When teammates Barton Lock and Evan Boswell arrive separately at the Hotel Beaudelaire’s exclusive Den of Sin Winterball, neither expects the staff matchmaker to pair them with the other. Evan is minor league baseball’s biggest ladies’ man, and Bart has spent way too many nights bearing witness to Evan’s conquests.

Evan came to the Den to play, but knowing Bart is the other party in his secret weekend rendezvous changes the game. Evan’s used to Bart calling the shots on the field, and wouldn’t mind so much if Bart did the same in his personal life, too. Unfortunately, Bart thinks Evan’s attempted seduction has more to do with changing his mind about retiring from their sport than hitting a relationship home run.

Winterball Reedsville Roosters Book 1 edition by Holley Trent Romance eBooks

This writer has a lot of talent. The story read well, it was interesting and the dialogue and banter between her two males leads were great. It's just a pity that they had absolutely zero chemistry with each other. My first issue was that I never really got a feel for how old Bart was. (If it was mentioned, I missed it). So I kind of thought him to be in his thirties yet so much of his inner monologue and mention of being 'old' made him seem more as if he was in his 40's or 50's. Because I couldn't clearly define the age difference I felt it was a bit 'icky old man' lusting after Evan (who was clearly defined as 24 years old) the way he did.

I also couldn't really believe Evan's affections for Bart. Since Evan was basically a hetero man-whore it seemed very odd that he would want Bart for anything more than a steamy romp. Which brings me to the sex. It was okay but certainly not the kind of sweet coupling one would expect from two people supposedly into each other. Evan seemed to want affection and sweet love making, Bart was all about banging as hard and fast as he could.

I felt there was no longevity for the characters. Evan seemed to want to be taken home by Bart because this would make him feel worthwhile as a person and, although Bart said he was welcome any time, he seemed to miss the point (or perhaps the author did) that Evan was trying to make about feeling like he belonged to someone. All in all, I felt the characters were good for one night of mediocre sex but there was no way that Evan is going to stay gay and faithful to Bart when Bart is an emotional brick wall and is not allowing Evan to get close to him. A little more true affection and some visual feeling between the characters, including a better ending, would have gone a long way to making this story great. Sadly this didn't hit a home run for me.

Loved reading a different jobs of erotic for me
I've a good rough and tumble love story and this one fits the bill. Two though guys falling I've is hot. I wish the story had been longer.
Really enjoyed this book. I liked it so much that I had to get the next book.
A good read for people who are in to the series but quick and enjoyable read must not my kind of book
This one caught me by surprise because I didn't read a blurb or an excerpt to even know what the story was about. I just knew that I was a "Den of Sin" fan and that I had to read it. First of all, Bart is a MF and I can't believe that he had no idea about Evan. The story flowed well and is very much worth the read.

This is a quick read. A short story about a Minor League pitcher and his catcher. I have no read other Den of Sins books, so I'm not sure if they are all this quick. The story was good, but I would have liked more background on the two main characters.

Bart is a catcher who is ready to retire. Evan is a young pitcher on his way up. Evan is terrified of having to work with a different catcher since he and Bart work so well together. Evan will do just about anything to convince Bart not to retire.
Bart and Evan has known each other for two years. While Bart is on his way out, Evan is the upcoming star of the game. Bart is obviously a very good catcher and since Evan is a more than decent pitcher, they had built a harmonious cooperation on the pitch. Evan is certain he could not have done it as good as he does without Bart and therefore in the beginning of the story Evan expresses his will to do whatever it takes for Bart to stay on. But although Bart has been interested in Evan sexually for all the time they had played and camped together, he is not willing to continue to play just to be able to see Evan still. The age and all injuries have taken their toll.
The two men meet at the ball in the Den of Sin, strangely enough paired up for the weekend. The reason for Evan being there, is actually his wish to gain some experience in a man-on-man action since he feels attraction to Bart and he is uncertain if it is real or how he should approach Bart. It takes some communicating, but at the end even if Bart no longer plays the baseball, he still continues to call the shots.
The story is too short to develop the characters properly and therefore it sometimes feels as a bit hanging. But it was entertaining enough to give it 4 stars.
