Unexpected Doesn't Have To Mean Unprepared.

In today's fragile economic, political, environmental and social climate it's easy to see the necessity for becoming more self reliant.  Disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, the Japan earthquake and nuclear disaster, and the Boston bombing have relayed to us again and again that no one is left untouched in tragedies such as these.  Like the butterfly effect, disaster affects us all on a global scale, further bringing home the importance of having a plan, and making preparations to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.  It is simply a matter of defining what you feel is important for you to prepare for in the event of an emergency, whether it be something as simple and basic as taking measures to prepare for an unexpected power outage, your vehicle breaking down, job loss, or illness. It may also include environmental preparations for fire, flood, or earthquake.  This book will help you to rethink your back up plans or create new ones should you not already have measures in place.

The Essential Guide To Prepping 45 Survival Tips For Beginners David Pearson 9780991972944 Books

This is a very good book for beginners..as the author states on the cover. He explains water storage in good detail and other things are explained in a clear manner.
Unfortunately, after 8 years of honing the survival prepper skills I did not learn anything new from this book. However, the author [like many] made the same mistakes I did and he does advise beginners of some of these.
As the years go on and more and more people realize they need some type of food/water storage these types of books are hitting the mainstream. Some are good, some a waste of money. This book is worth buying for the beginner.

The Essential Guide To Prepping 45 Survival Tips For Beginners David Pearson 9780991972944 Books Reviews

Well laid out from the start, with some excellent examples and suggestions. Incorporates a number of 'common sense' additions to 'prepping' that I haven't seen in other books. Definite must read. The only reason I gave it four stars was only because I was disappointed in the length. Wish there had been more info in it. lol
I HAVE READ THOUSANDS OF BOOKS MOSTLY ROMANCE . AND I TRY TO BE HONEST ABOUT THEM SO HERE GOES SOME OF THE INFORMATION INSIDE OF THIS BOOK IS GOOD IN THOUGHT BUT NOT SOMETHING THAT YOU AS A READER AND BUYER OF THIS BOOK YOU COULD NOT LIVE WITHOUT.
Easy to understand book with great tips for "newbies" who don't know where to start preparing for any disaster in the future whether it's weather, financial, or government caused. Definitely worth the money and something anyone would get alot of use out of especially if new to the prepping process.
I gave this book a great rating for several reasons, first it was free all I have to do is read it. It is written simple and to the point. My parents raised me to prepare for a rainy day be it hurricane or otherwise, this book brought to light a few things I hadn't thought of which was a plus. I think this book is a great simple go to guide which I will be ordering in paperback form.
This should be considered an article rather than a book since it took less than thirty minutes to read it from start to finish. Actually, considering the content, anything longer would have been a waste. The "book" had almost no information and is only a very brief summary of a few universal survival recommendations. It has almost nothing to do with prepping. The title was obviously geared to fit the more pedestrian trend of the newbies to the subject and to garner interest from the natgeo buffs. It provided no details, statistics, guidance or information that is not readily available in much better form from literately dozens of free sources. Either the author is attempting to use this article to continue to sustain his primitive lifestyle or he is endeavoring to promote his misguided views of a low-carbon footprint. Using this information in a genuine emergency situation might garner an extra 30 minutes of survival time... just the same amount of time it took to read. I will comment that the spelling and punctuation was above average for this type of publication.

A quality and useful version on the subject would be SAS Survival Handbook, Revised Edition For Any Climate, in Any Situation
As with most Er prep books there is always helpful information. I have gathered information from every er book I have ever read whether we'll written or not. I hope I never have to use items or knowledge of er prepping. However I'd rather be as prepared as I've deemed necessary and not need it than need it and not have poop!!!
Most people are clueless about survival techniques and are far too dependent on
civilization to provide for their own needs. Just look at hurricane Katrina
where all the people just concentrated at the stadium.

The best thing to do is to avoid people during an emergency because
it tends to bring out the worst in people who will be prone to violence
to take what you have.

The only disagreement that I have with this book is suggesting a rifle for
hunting and self defense. A shotgun is far better. You have a different
array of ammunition to choose from depending on what you are going to shoot.

You have light bird shot for small animals and birds. You have buckshot
for bears, deer and human beings. Buckshot has tremendous stopping power.
I suggest a magnum pump shotgun chambered to accept the largest shells
of 31/2 inches. These have 50% more stopping power compared to the standard
23/4 inch shells against large animals like bear and deer
and most importantly people.
This is a very good book for beginners..as the author states on the cover. He explains water storage in good detail and other things are explained in a clear manner.
